Lilia Vu Reflects on Recent Victory and Prepares to Compete in the JM Eagle LA Championship

Los Angeles, California - Lilia Vu, a professional golfer and UCLA graduate student, recently took home her second win of the season at the Chevron Championship. Now, she is gearing up to compete in the JM Eagle LA Championship at the Wilshire Country Club in Hollywood. This tournament draws top players from around the globe, including all of this season's tournament winners, as well as eight players from the Top 10 and 17 from the Top 20 of the Rolex Rankings. During a press interview from the Wilshire Country Club, Vu shared her feelings about her recent victory, stating: “It’s starting to feel real now, but, waking up on Monday…, it just didn´t feel real. I felt like I was dreaming, because I had a pretty tough weekend, and I didn’t really feel like I was in the tournament until, basically, 17, 18 (hole) happened, and then I was back in it again." Vu's return to the Wilshire Country Club course is also a sentimental one, as she trained and played there every Wednesday during her time as a UCLA golf team member. "It's just very nostalgic to be in the area. It feels like home, so it's kind of nice to come back after Chevron and be here, somewhere that I know that family and friends are going to come out this weekend, too,” Vu said. The course at Wilshire Country Club is challenging and unique, with Vu stating, “There´s really no golf course like Wilshire. I don’t think you can really compare it to anything in my opinion, because they're just so different from the typical cool surrounding LA courses around here. It’s not easy, and putting it’s going to be difficult. I think it's going to be difficult for everybody. If you want to drive it well off the tee, you want to keep it below the PIN. I think it’s going to be pretty difficult, and fun, though.” Clearly, the JM Eagle LA Championship will be a high-level tournament, with top players from around the world competing. However, Vu is one of the favorites, having won two tournaments already this season. She won't have it easy, but with her knowledge of the Wilshire Country Club and the support of her home crowd, she is sure to fight for the championship trophy.
