Denver, Colorado - Alyse Anderson has a plan to take down one of the greatest strikers in combat sports. On May 5th, Anderson, also known as 'Lil Savage,' will step into the circle at the 1stBank Center in Colorado to face two-sport ONE world champion, Stamp Fairtex, in the biggest fight of her career. Anderson believes she holds a distinct advantage over Fairtex in the grappling department, and plans to exploit it to secure a ONE world title opportunity. "Honestly, that's where I just see her biggest hole," Anderson said during an interview with ONE Championship. "So that's where I see myself taking the fight and taking advantage. I'm not concerned about her level of grappling." Anderson's grappling skills were on full display in her last appearance in the circle, where she earned her first win under the ONE Championship banner. She squared off against Asha Roka at ONE 157 and scored an impressive come-from-behind first-round submission, just past the two-minute mark. However, Fairtex is undeniably one of the greatest strikers in all of combat sports today, having captured both the ONE atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world championships. Despite her weaknesses on the ground, Fairtex can hold her own in grappling. She proved that during the ONE Atomweight Women's World Grand Prix tournament final in 2021 when she faced feared wrestler Ritu Phogat. During the fight, Fairtex shocked the ONE Championship fanbase by earning a first-round armbar submission over ‘The Indian Tigress’ to become the WGP champion. The matchup between Anderson and Fairtex is shaping up to be a strategic battle between striking and grappling, and both fighters will need to be on top of their game to come out on top. If Anderson can successfully execute her grappling-heavy game plan, she could jump the atomweight queue on the way to a ONE world title opportunity. "This is why I'm here. This is what I've been working so hard for my whole life," Anderson said. "I'm chasing that belt, and I know a win over Stamp puts me in that conversation." Fans can catch the fight live and for free on Amazon Prime Video in North America on May 5th.
