Network Engineer

Overview

SMBC is in process of leading a Digital Transformation across our Americas Division as we continue to modernize our technology, focus on our data driven approach, grow and plan for the future.

As a result of these efforts SMBC is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with Scripting knowledge for the Banks’s Network Management Group to support the Banks Network infrastructure to include multiple Data Centers, Cloud Infrastructure and Global WAN.

Responsibilities include automation of tasks, delivering uninterrupted business operation, performing scheduled maintenance, and ownership of projects and implementations. In addition the person will lead/assist in all cloud deployment within the networking group.Main areas of expertise include: data, cloud, network security and scripting knowledge. You will be part of an infrastructure team that provides supports SMBC groups multiple business entities.

Responsibilities

Develop automation methods to rapidly deploy, configure, and update network equipment and tasks

Monitor, analyze, and report metrics of network services and deploy tools to gather such metrics

Requirements gathering, analyze, and propose solution to networking needs

Work on assigned network infrastructure projects.

Provide support to other Systems Infrastructure teams during project implementation.

Provide day-to-day operations support for network, Voice, and security infrastructure

Resolve incidents, escalate to management and vendors if necessary

Ensure service performance expectations are met with service levels and quality

Provide support during system installations across all sites.

Cross train other team members on projects, and network technologies.

Responsible for projects that may require some night and weekend participation.

Participate in network team on-call rotation

Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience in a Network Engineering position/environment. Any certification such as CCNP and other equivalent industry certifications would be helpful in this position.

One to two years’ experience with scripting languages such as Ansible or python.

Experience in Azure deployment and other cloud technologies

Advanced knowledge on configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, Cloud networking components.

Advanced knowledge on design and architecture of LAN, MAN, WAN, SAN networks.

Knowledge of Cisco ACI.

Advanced knowledge of routing protocols OSPF, BGP, NAT, LACP, CDP, UDLD, VPC, DNS, DHCP.

Advanced knowledge on troubleshooting networking issues across data, cloud, voice and video, storage networks.

Knowledge of F5 Load Balancers

Experience with Network firewalls Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Cisco ISE

Knowledge on network management platforms: Solarwinds and other platforms

Ability to support mixed data, voice, and video networks.

Capability of performing and completing tasks and projects independently.
