Operations Analyst

Overview

The position will be responsible for timely and accurate processing of deposit transactions, complying with various customer requests and replying to various inquiries from customers and other departments within SMBC.

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $61,000 and $72,000. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Responsibilities

Return Deposit Item processing including documenting and notifying the appropriate department

Large Item Pre-notification

Processing and maintaining of deposit records

Account reconciliation, posting, exceptions tracking and reporting

ACH and checks Non-Post processing including monitoring ACH exposure limits

Ensures that bank policies and procedures are followed in an efficient and accurate manner

Coordinates with peer Operations Analysts to check and verify the work of one another

Serves as first point of contact for inquiries from customers and other parties

Assist with ad-hoc projects as required and maybe assigned to one area or function including Remittance section

Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises to ensure smooth recovery of department operations after business disruption.

Frequently applies technical knowledge to resolve more complex problems.

Qualifications

Five years of specialized experience in Back Office operations in Financial Services

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

Broad knowledge of accounting procedures and processes.

Functional knowledge and understanding of various operations procedures including money transfer processing

A customer service mindset with excellent ability to respond with diplomacy, under pressure, in challenging situations.

Excellent analytical skills, an eye for details and excellent time management skills.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Adept at working and effectively collaborating with client, operations and technology teams
