
Product Development Workshop Technician

Workshop Technician to support the tractor validation process in tractor product development.
The position will be moved to the Racine, WI location. Interim coverage will need to be provided to the Burr Ridge facility with paid travel until the move is complete. Candidates who live 50 plus miles from the Racine location would be eligible for relocation assistance.
Responsibilities
Diagnose mechanical failures & conduct repairs/part installations on prototype & current production agriculture equipment or test systems by referencing engineering prints & models, engineering specifications, & work order instructions.
Determine correct hand tools, power tools, and instruments to best complete mechanical tasks.
Strategize the best method of repair to eliminate unnecessary steps during the disassembly/reassembly process.
Perform assembly and fit ups on prototype units and provide technical feedback to appropriate engineers, along with any proposals for improvement in ease of manufacturing
Collaborate with design & test engineers on test vehicles to install test instrumentation & provide recommendations in component placement/layout to increase repair efficiency or instrument durability
Operate heavy equipment such as tractors, wheel loaders, forklifts, etc. for material handling purposes
Coordinate & perform preventative maintenance activities in the prototype shop.
Test equipment after reassembly/installation to ensure proper functionality, and perform any necessary adjustments
Document work completed & techniques used after project completion
Provide management with investment proposals to enhance overall workshop capability & efficiency
Travel to customer and dealer sites as needed
Qualifications
2 yr. technical degree in Diesel, Electronic or Automotive technology, or minimum of 3 years’ experience in related position
Hands-on experience operating/repairing and maintaining on/off-road vehicles
Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical control systems and sensors
Read and interpret technical engineering documents and drawings
Experience with operating overhead cranes, fixtures, rigging and forklifts
Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
