Position Purpose

Key Responsibilities [List of material responsibilities and essentials duties which must be completed in achieving the objectives of the position]

a. Under the direction of the Radiologist and the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS),administers ionizing radiation for the purpose of diagnosis which includes positioning the x-ray beamwith respect to the patient, anatomically positioning the patient, selecting exposure factors, and initiatingexposure.b. Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes.c. After reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient’s abilities and condition, selects the mostappropriate patient care plan.d. Selects appropriate shielding devices and appropriate immobilization devices.e. Evaluates lab values prior to administering contrast media.f. Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medications or insufficient patientpreparation.g. Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedurerequested. Verifies female patient pregnancy status when appropriate.h. Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts, from the patient and from themedical record, which may impact the examination.i. Monitors patient and equipment during procedures, accurately documents exam times (start and stop),patient reactions or problems, and reports concerns or issues immediately to supervisor.j. Documents patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate Imaging software database, to include examstart and complete times.Quality of Carea. The technologist provides evidence-based care so as to prevent the development of a Healthcare AcquiredCondition and hospital readmissions.b. The technologist practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminatedmaterials.c. The technologist complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquiredinfections and other conditions.

Qualifications [Statements regarding minimum educational and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, military service, required certifications, etc.]

Graduate of Radiologic Technologist program Current CT registration and licensure by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) Current registration and licensure by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) American Heart Association BLS CT certification required within one year of hire

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK REQUIREMENTS:1. Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.2. Effective oral and written communication skills, compliant with KHI vision, mission, and values.3. Able to manage technical business equipment i.e. phone, fax, computer etc.4. Able to assist with the movement/manipulation of a patient and equipment weighing up to and over 300lbs.5. Able to care for patients with infectious diseases.6. Able to sit, stand, walk, and bend for the duration of the scheduled shift.7. Able to demonstrate concentration and visual and auditory acuity to watch monitors and followinstructions during exams.
