We are currently seeking an Engineer II to join our Electric Distribution Team based in Silver Spring, MD.

YOUR IMPACT

CHA’s distribution design engineers have the deep experience and skill set to plan, design, and permit electric distribution infrastructure and all types of utility distribution systems. To realize the dependable, cost-effective interconnection of overhead and underground assets, we visualize, analyze and optimize how the system functions with itself and outside systems.

Working alongside CHA’s professional engineers, the Engineer II supports the design, development, implementation, and technical analysis on projects to suit individual client needs. The Engineer II aids in preparing technical reports, contract documents and cost estimates for various engineering tasks, and works on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements.

The Engineer II will also identify technical discrepancies in analytical results and makes appropriate corrections when necessary. They will also develop and maintain a familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the firm’s and client’s practices, procedures, and standards.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or another related engineering discipline is required

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred

Minimum of 2 years of experience with electric distribution and/or utilities required

Strong knowledge of engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)

Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences

Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required

Ability to navigate in the field and travel locally on occasion required
