
Paralegal (Med Mal)
Overview
Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., a multi-office national firm has an immediate opening for a Paralegal in our Scottsdale, AZ Office. This is a full-time position, competitive salary, hybrid schedule and benefits package offered. The individual in this role will assist attorneys in defending medical malpractice matters. This is a hands-on position that involves working collaboratively with clients and employees of the firm.
Responsibilities
· Support legal team by requesting, analyzing, and summarizing voluminous medical records for clients, attorneys, and experts.
· Conduct medical journal research via Internet or through local libraries.
· Abstract medical records, organize, and prepare both outline and narrative summaries of the records for internal use and for presentation to the client.
· Analyze medical records and billing records to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the medical evidence including pre-existing or co-existing medical conditions. Prepare case analysis. Identify issues, omissions, and discrepancies.
· Identify and provide information regarding medical experts, physicians, and coordinate medical expert deposition preparation.
· Assist attorneys with medical evidence preparation and organization for hearing or trial.
Qualifications
· 1-2+ years of prior Paralegal experience in defense litigation, preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced law firm environment.
· Experience with medical malpractice and insurance defense preferred.
· Arizona State filing including E-Filing experience required.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook required.
· Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication and organizational skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
· High School Diploma or its equivalent required.

Physical Demands
This position is considered to be mostly sedentary and will require the employee to sit for extended periods of time. It will also require the employee to occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. They may engage in bending, stretching, reaching and other motions in a working day. They will be engaged in using office equipment and computers. They may engage in lifting of supplies and materials up to 20 pounds from time to time. While performing duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
Working Conditions
This job is located primarily in an indoor office environment with varying noise levels. There may be varying degrees of temperature. The employee may be interrupted from time to time.
