Senior Developer, Program Solutions & Support


IT Solutions Division


Contract Full-Time; 18 Months


Pay Band: $84,335 to 105,417 per annum


 


The Senior Developer works in a team reporting to the Supervisor Program Solutions & Support, that manage and support an Oracle CC&B water and stormwater billing application. The Senior Developer ensures maximum uptime of this mission critical application, by monitoring the application and liaising regularly with clients, network and infrastructure teams, project managers, and approved 3rd party vendors to provide seamless operation.  


 


In this role you will:



  • Troubleshoot issues related to Oracle CC&B water billing system and interfaces.

  • Manage Automation of interfaces for the Water Billing System.

  • Monitor interfaces from various internal and external clients such as Peoplesoft Financials G/L, Salesforce, Neptune Meter Reads, Kubra Bill Print and, self-service water billing Portal, banking payments, City of Mississauga, and City of Brampton Storm Water interfaces.

  • Document Operational Processes, Incidents and Resolutions.

  • Manage Change Requests for Releases and Emergency Fixes to the application

  • Coordinating upgrades, Patches and Releases with Clients, Infrastructure and External Vendors.

  • Maintain Various Environments (Developer, Test, SIT, Training, UAT and Production)

  • Monitor and Maintain Batch Streams and liaise with on-call staff.

  • Perform SIT Testing for software upgrades and enhancements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the system

  • Maintain and upgrade skills in relation to new technologies. Also be involved in knowledge transfers

  • Perform all duties in accordance with IT standards and procedures  


Qualifications: 



  • University or college graduate in computer science or related discipline with minimum 5 years application maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • At least 2 years’ coordinating software upgrades, enhancements, and releases of Oracle CC&B or a similar large scale enterprise applications.

  • Experience working with CC&B or similar Oracle or other vendor enterprise software

  • Experience troubleshooting CC&B or similar vendor application on a Linux server environment.

  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with software tools including SQL Developer, Java, Linux, Windows Scripting, Powershell, Toad, PL/SQL, Erwin, XML, BI Publisher, CC&B, , WebLogic, Groovy, MobaXterm, PuTTY, BeyondCompare.

  • Experience with source code management best practices and tools (e.g. GitHub) would be a plus.

  • Experience in creation and maintenance of application documentation.

  • Proficiency and experience in gathering user requirements, understanding business processes and creating solutions based upon requirements.

  • Knowledge of object oriented design (OOD), object oriented programming (OOP), unified modeling language (UML), model driven architecture (MDA), and service oriented architecture (SOA).

  • In-depth knowledge of integrating complex applications on the desktop and across wide and local area networks is essential. 

  • Aware of best practices in Information Technology service delivery such as SDLC, PMBOK, COBIT and ITIL.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, practical problem-solving abilities, ability to proactively identify opportunities and quickly implement solutions.

  • Able to travel to various regional locations; and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays, on-call rotation and/or shift work as needed.


 


Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario. 


 


Hours of Work: 35 hours/week
