Job Summary

Due to a strong pipeline of work, internal promotions and exciting projects across Waikato / Bay of Plenty regions, we are excited to be growing our team here in Hamilton. We are seeking a Principal Road and Highway Engineer to design and manage transport projects from inception, concept design through to detailed design and documentation.

You will ensure all quality assurance processes are followed in the design process and through the production or coordination of design drawings and project documentation, delivered on time and to budget.

Undertake and lead road and highways engineering design for projects for both National and Local Government and private clients utilising previous experience on similar projects.

Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate the integration of road and highways designs with other disciplines including CAD, lighting, stormwater, pavements and structures etc.

Ability to undertake 3D road and intersection designs based topographical surveys.

Preparation and review of technical reports, specifications, volumes and quantities

Client and authority liaison for design approvals including arranging and attending meetings

Minimum Requirements

About You

We are seeking an experienced Principal level designer who is technically strong with a background in civil engineering with:

Bachelor of Engineering or Diploma in a Relevant technical qualification

10-15 years relevant professional experience on Transportation Infrastructure projects

Proficient in 12D, or Civil 3D and AutoCAD software

Leadership experience with the drive to mentor junior engineers within the team

Highly organized and self-motivated Design Engineer, able to Lead and work unsupervised.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant technical qualification

Member of a recognised professional institute

Proficiency in Infraworks software

Experience of road safety audits and ancillary road design elements including; roadside barriers, road drainage, lighting, streetscape, pavements and other structures (retaining walls etc.)
