Job Description

Established in 1994, the Bethesda Urban Partnership (BUP) is downtown management organization whose mission it is to market and maintain downtown Bethesda, MD. Marketing efforts include promoting Bethesda’s shops, restaurants, and arts and entertainment organizations as well as the creation of special events, community festivals and arts programming that benefit visual and performing artists and the community alike.
Job Summary:BUP is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Marketing and Communications Manager to serve as an integral member of our in-house marketing and communications team. This position is responsible for marketing and communications tasks including, but not limited to content creation such as digital marketing, web site maintenance and social media, as well as arts and entertainment programming, special events and more. Candidate should be skilled at creative and business writing, community relations as well as program and events management.
• Oversee a range of marketing initiatives that promote downtown Bethesda and its restaurants, shops, and arts and entertainment organizations.• Create digital and social media content.• Management of logistics and planning arts-related programming, community and special events.• Write, edit and proofread marketing materials as well as press release; pitch stories to local media.• Outreach to all community constituents including residents, local businesses, developers and artists.• Set and manage multiple priorities at one time.• Assist with planning and development of marketing campaigns, including digital marketing and social media.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in marketing, communications and public relations is required.• Experience in arts programming preferred.• Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.• Strong written and oral communication skills.• Strong interpersonal skills.• Strong customer service skills (phone skills, in person, email communication).• A high degree of responsibility, initiative and professionalism.
• Flexibility to work some evening and weekend work as required for special events.
