We are looking for a dynamic, resourceful, highly organized, and team-focused Manager, Global Environmental, Health, and Safety to support our Technical Operations team. The successful candidate will integrate into the TerraCycle Global Operations Team and report to the Senior Director, Global Compliance and Responsible Business.
Prevent, mitigate, and control EHS risks from operations, supply chain, equipment, and materials to protect employees, the business, communities, and the environmentDesign, develop, author and sustain the company-wide EHS compliance assurance programs, procedures, processes, systems, and training to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, risk mitigation objectives, certifications, and internal standardsMonitor, interpret, and assess existing or emerging laws, regulations, regulatory policy, and industry practices; determine and communicate operational and business impactsPerform audits and reviews to identify program gaps, develop corrective measures and implement solutions to sustain compliance with law and company strategies, policies, and standardsLead the tactical execution of projects associated with conformance to industry-leading standards (such as the Recycled Claim Standard and Global Harmonization Standard) and organizational ratings certifications (such as Sedex and EcoVadis). Work with the Technical and Tactical Operations teams to show conformance to additional standards such as ISO14001, OHSAS18001, ISO 45001, ISO9001 or similar accredited EHS management systems. Provide service, solutions, programs, best practices, and technical guidance to business management and support functions to manage compliance assurance and risk mitigation and ensure continuous improvementFunction in a leadership and tactical role regarding agency enforcement actions, regulatory proposals, permitting issues and negotiations, EHS technical, engineering, and scientific support, assessment and control of EHS issues Act as primary technical contact for Sales and Business Development on health and safety matters. Collaborate to complete technical review of material profiles and sales opportunities. Work cross-functionally to design and communicate effective and compliant management of all material streams while maintaining a strong focus on sustainable business growthCollect, measure, analyze, and report on national, regional, and site EHS-related metrics and KPI performances to ensure compliance with required data collection, documentation, document retention, and reporting requirementsDevelop, implement, execute and sustain company-wide employee safety and injury prevention programs, EHS general awareness training, and TerraCycle program-specific training. Manage enterprise-wide impact of EHS incident investigations to determine and implement root cause corrective actionsAssist in the management of regulatory agency and external stakeholder (including client) EHS activities, including reporting, visits, or inspectionsCarry out the above responsibilities with tactical support from TerraCycle teams including, but not limited to, the Recycling Solutions (vendor management), Legal, and Tactical Operations teams.
BS or MS in EHS, occupational health, or relevant scientific or engineering field preferred5+ years’ experience with increasing leadership responsibility in EHS program management, specifically implementation of Health and Safety programsExperience in multi-national regulatory jurisdictions, including the UK and countries within the European Union a plus.Possess a detailed understanding of global and EHS legal requirements (i.e.: regulations, codes, standards, directives, and administrative policies) Work well with limited supervision while being responsible for project management, compliance assurance, risk mitigation, and management of standardsExperience prioritizing and managing multiple and technically complex assignments concurrentlyOrganized, analytical, detail-oriented, and a problem-solver with project management skills and focus on resultsExperience leading and motivating cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and diverse environmentExperience developing and implementing goals and strategies based on broader organization goalsExperience relating to company or organization registration/certification ESG-related and H&S standard(s)
