PPSLRSWMO currently has an opening for a Lead Clinician/Float Clinician.  This is a full-time, benefited float position in the St. Louis metro area.

POSITION TITLE:  Lead Clinician/Float Clinician
STATUS:                   Full Time, Exempt, Salaried
REPORTS TO:         Associate Medical Director
COMPENSATION: $105,000 - $120,000

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Clinician assists in maintaining quality medical standards and systems for the medical services, surgical and health centers and coordinates training and monitoring of new and current PPSLRSWMO clinicians. Will require travel to other health centers.  Will require evenings and Saturdays.  Includes ability to move about the clinic, time sitting and standing, ability to perform the functions of a medical clinician, and the ability to use a computer.  Clinical and administrative division of time will be determined based on department priorities and resources and will be re-evaluated on a semi-annual basis. Upon joining the team, this role will be 80% clinical (4 clinical shifts/week) and 20 % administrative (1 day/week)
 
PRIMARY DUTIES PERFORMED:
See Nurse Practitioner Job Description. This will be a float position, as this clinician will not be assigned to a specific clinic but will fill in for vacations/CME/sick leave.
Coordinate and provide, directly or by delegation, the precepting and mentoring of new nurse clinicians.  Monitor new clinicians through their trial period, ensuring high quality and performance.
Ensure that clinicians are appropriately trained on PPSLRSWMO medical standards, guidelines, and protocols.
Regular consultations with full and part time NPs. Medical questions that cannot be answered will then be referred to the Associate Medical Director or Medical Director.
Annual performance appraisal of clinicians’ medical skills. Chart reviews as necessary for annual performance appraisal and as requested by Associate Medical Director or Medical Director. Lead and complete plans for performance improvement if needed.
Contribute to discussions with NPs and medical staff on updated medical standards, technologies, and changes and potential changes in medical practice and standards
Foster an environment of intellectual curiosity and continuous learning for the clinician staff. Coordinate and lead monthly clinician meetings and other educational opportunities for clinicians including clinician presentations after CME activities.
Create and maintain the clinician schedule in consultation with the Associate Medical Director and following the scheduling guidelines set out in policy.
Approve vacation and time off requests in a timely manner; approve timecards. Make decisions on coverage for call-ins.
Lead the hiring process for new clinicians in coordination with HR. Assure job postings are timely and accurate, review all applications received and coordinate interviews. Make recommendations for hiring. Keep applications that are chosen for hiring on time and moving forward.
Adhere to affiliate policies on professionalism, wait time in-clinic and on the phone, and the system for addressing client complaints.
Participate in health center/affiliate efforts to achieve established productivity and revenue cycle goals.
 
RISK MANAGEMENT AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
Documents in the medical record, in English, all encounters with patients, consistent with affiliate Quality Assurance and Risk Management standards.
Follows protocol for approved services and operates within the confines of policy, protocol, medical guidelines, and collaborative practice agreements.
Compliant with all infection control policies and procedures; safeguards patients and self.
Performs lab tests correctly and records accurately all lab results in designated lab books, medical records, etc.
Protects confidentiality of PPSLRSWMO clients, staff, volunteers, donors, Board, and all other areas of operations.
Protects PPSLRSWMO and its assets from liability.
Follows HIPAA privacy and security guidelines.
 
OTHER DUTIES AS DELEGATED:
Contributes to the department’s growth through marketing, scheduling, budgetary ideas for service provision.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Nurse Clinician with an MSN Degree. I understand that it is my professional obligation to keep all licensure and certification up to date and to provide a copy of such to the affiliate. I understand that current licensure (and certification, if applicable) is a condition of my employment.
NCC certified (if applicable).
State licenses in both Missouri and Illinois is required
Recognized by the state of Illinois and Missouri as an Advance Practice Nurse able to function under a collaborative practice agreement.
Ability to make sound, ethical, independent decisions.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and written.
Commitment to PP goals and mission.
Ability to work effectively with diverse staff levels and diverse clients.
Strong organizational, analytical & leadership skills.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Detail oriented.
Bilingual skills a plus, particularly Spanish or Bosnian.
