Clinical Informatics Graduate Internship Details


Our clinical informatics externship is designed for candidates who are pursuing a graduate (MS or PhD) degree in clinical informatics or a related field. They should have completed at least one year of the graduate program.  Our internships are designed to be full time with the opportunity to extend based on company needs and interns' desires on a full-time or part-time basis. 


This Opportunity:


We are looking for clinical informaticists who can leverage their clinical background and technical skills to help us build library of high quality computable phenotypes and advance the learning healthcare system.  These will that help us empower researchers to answer clinical research questions and move towards our vision of Saving Lives with Data. You will work in an exciting and fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with multiple teams across the company. You will work as part of an organization that brings together talent of diverse backgrounds including software engineering, big data, machine learning and AI, clinical informatics, and medicine making our team an exciting place to work. In this role, you will:



  • Query clinical data to extract computable phenotypes for research use

  • Directly contribute to enabling the learning health system and precision medicine

  • Gain experience around EHR data normalization and practical application of data standards such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD10, RxNorm, etc.

  • Collaborate with and contribute to the success of other teams and team members

  • Collaborate with internal groups of experts with diverse backgrounds

  • Deliver next generation of innovation in trustworthy healthcare


Key Qualifications:


Applied experience and expertise in each of the following:



  • Completed at least 1 year towards a clinical informatics graduate degree (MS or PhD)

  • Completed course work in clinical terminologies and standards

  • Experience using SQL or other query language.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience using Python, R, SAS, or other data analytics tools

  • Good written and verbal communication, including presentation skills

  • Key Differentiators: Grounded in a growth mindset, advocate for inclusion and diversity

  • Experience with data modeling and mapping to ontologies (SNOMED CT, RxNorm, ICD-10, LOINC, etc.)

  • Deep understanding of healthcare data feeds, formats (HL7/FHIR/CCDA)
