The Company

Silvus is a rapidly-growing high-tech entrepreneurial company in the heart of West Los Angeles. The company delivers the most technologically advanced Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (MANET) solution to multiple markets including: Law Enforcement; Unmanned Systems; and Military, among others. Along with its successful MANET product line, the company also delivers on ground breaking research in the area of wireless data communications. The company has experienced rapid growth over the past 12 months and is expecting the rate of growth to continue with the introduction of new products and services.

The Opportunity

This position will report directly to the President/CEO with significant exposure to the entire leadership team. The CFO will manage the accounting/finance team and be highly involved in driving day to day operations, developing corporate strategy and managing risk, as well as providing general business advice and strategy to President/CEO. The ideal candidate will be a technically adept managerial accounting and finance professional with deep expertise in commercial manufacturing, with a vision for the future while maintaining a desire to remain hands-on in the business.
Specific Duties

The CFO position is accountable for the financial and risk management operations of the company, which includes the development and successful implementation of accounting and financial policies, metrics tied to driving financial performance, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate and meaningful financial results.

Financial Analysis, Accounting, Budgeting and Forecasting
•           Establish finance operational strategies by evaluating trends, establishing critical measurements, determining production, productivity, sales, quality and customer service strategies, designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems, aligning incentives, and driving change.
•           Perform regular detailed analytical reviews and make recommendations for improved financial performance.
•           Lead a cross-organization finance team. Determine accountabilities, communicate organization mission, values, policies, and procedures. Select, orient, train, coach, motivate, and appraise team members. Serve as mentor to team members, preparing team for continued professional growth and future advancement within the organization.
•           Anticipate, define, and lead efforts to build infrastructure and strengthen accounting and financial management practices
•           Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software.
•           Oversee the preparation and communication of financial statements and the month-end close process.
•           Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
Financial Management
•           Develop finance organization strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations that support organization strategic thinking and direction, establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
•           Report financial status by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances, and developing improvements.
•           Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization's plans and operating budgets.
•           Represent company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors, and officials.
•           Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.
Key Qualifications and Characteristics
•           15+ years of leadership-level financial management experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably aerospace/defense/high-tech manufacturing).
•           Advanced degree or certification -  MBA, CPA
•           Full command of GAAP accounting, financial statements, budgeting and forecasting, and internal controls.
•           Proven success at leading and managing professionals in finance/accounting, including
team development and efficient deployment through a practiced coaching and a people-focused management style.
•           Ability to partner with CEO/President and other members of the executive team to drive the future direction of the company while bringing a unique point of view and expertise.
•           Ability to advise the CEO and executive team colleagues to ensure sound strategic financial decision-making, accounting and financial management procedures, financial controls and compliance.
•           Aerospace/defense or high-tech manufacturing sector experience.
•           Government accounting understanding.
