Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

Evaluate injuries of student athletes and recommend plan of care, such as: athletic training treatment, referral to specialist or physical therapy. Assist with ensuring recommendations are followed through with

Provide treatment to optimize healing time and ensure safe return of the athlete to previous athletic ability

As per the contract with high school, attend practices and games providing athletic training services to athletes to treat and prevent injuries and optimize performance.

Ensure athletic training room supplies are complete, maintain clean and neat treatment area.

Document evaluation and treatment on the appropriate paperwork as per the LATC guidelines

Communicates and consults with the coaches, physicians, physical therapists, aides and other health care providers involved with athletes care, regarding progress, changes in plan of care or adverse reactions to intervention, to optimize patient care, as per State Practice Acts

Stays actively up to date with the current practices of athletic training through continuing education, tertiary education, in-services and independent reading

Communicates with potential referral sources, coaches and the general public to expand existing business and cultivate new business and increase the community’s knowledge of the role of athletic training and physical therapy in health care

Performs other related duties within a clinical setting or in the field as assigned

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
