With its growing economy and population and rising global influence, India has become central to meeting these global challenges.Read more about EDF's work at: https:,,,Since 2011, Environmental Defense Fund has been working with partners in India to slow and, ultimately, reverse the rising trend in agricultural GHG emissions that currently constitute 20% of national emissions, while aligning with the national food and water security requirements. A core component of this effort has been to fix the broken agricultural value chains in order to establish an enabling environment for innovation and farm level efficiency. In the state of Maharashtra, this is being addressed by using the agri, entrepreneur model to provide various agricultural services to small holders and increase their income as well as create sustainable livelihoods for young rural entrepreneurs (AE). An AE brings together services such as credit and market linkage, access to high,quality input and crop advisory for a group of farmers.Roles and Responsibilities:, Oversee and support the implementation of the climate smart agriculture (CSA) program with state and non,state partners in Maharashtra. , The role will require coordination between multiple stakeholders including but not limited to state policy makers, agriculture scientists, NGOs, Private sector, Community Based Organizations, and Farmer Producer Organizations, with a focus on supporting and enabling local agriculture entrepreneurs to drive productivity and efficiency at the farmer field level , Be a part of a team that is empowering farmers and rural agriculture entrepreneurs to improve service delivery to farmers in the state to drive efficiency across the agriculture value chain by developing and testing Package of Practices (rice, wheat, other cereals), and curriculum development for the training of AEs , Assist in the development of ICT tools,platform to enable peer to peer learning among AEs and the farmer community, for the uptake of the CSA interventions in the two districts. , Designing and deploying surveys, research instruments,protocols to capture the effectiveness, co,benefits and impact of CSA interventions deployed across the two districts, Work with the broader team to assess current state agriculture and agriculture related policies for climate resilience. Co,lead with the state agriculture environment ministry a process to identify new policies better suited to promote climate resilience , Take initiative to organize other associated multi,stakeholder consultations to conduct government outreach, sharing regular updates and results of the program in the two districts , Mapping, researching and analysing state schemes and programs across key policy documents, Connecting with technical advisors and experts for inputs and areas where they can contribute on agriculture policy documents of the state government, Regularly participate in agriculture and land use related round,table stakeholder discussions, and invite only meetings, hosted by concerned state departments,ministries to share the work and outcomes of the tested CSA interventions, Participates in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF valuesNote: The roles and responsibilities outlined above are not meant to be an exhaustive list of tasks.
