Sr Instructional Designer / Education Services - Remote

Overview

The role of Senior Instructional Designer provides world-class, innovative, blended learning, virtual instructor, and web-based solutions for our customers and Altera associates. This individual follows Altera Education Services content development processes based on the ADDIE model and uses authoring tools and systems to create and maintain high-quality content for Altera products. In addition, this individual collaborates with stakeholders across multiple business units and mentors on Education Services standards and processes.

This is a remote role in the US.

Responsibilities

Follows and applies the principles of the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) Instructional Systems Design model

Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts and Cross Functional Teams to develop/deliver training programs to support assigned product (e.g., instructor-led classroom-based or web-based training, eLearning, etc.)

Identifies product experts within and regularly partners with Product Development, Sales, Solutions Marketing, the Program Office, as well as other key internal business partners/knowledge holders to identify training requirements/needs to support the assigned product

Contributes to Education Services offerings/initiatives, and employee new hire and continuing education training programs

Performs Task Analysis to identify Learning Objectives for assigned products.

Conducts Performance and Training Needs Assessments to determine training requirements for Education Services programs

Identifies training requirements/needs to support the assigned product and create/maintain training.

Participates in Audience Analysis to research, document, evaluate, and design the training needs/preferences of the target audience

Creates Project Scope documents to be shared with/approved by Education Services Leaders.

Works closely with Education Technologists and Graphic Designers and/or comparable external third-party resources to translate curriculum designs into a shared portfolio of reusable learning objects from which all forms of learning courses will be developed; Follows content repository guidelines and conventions to ensure long-term maintenance of training content.

Provides instructional design guidance and coaching to Subject Matter Experts.

Works closely with the Educational Technologists to ensure the course structures meet the design and delivery requirements/standards for Learning Systems & Tools (e.g., Learning Management Systems, Learning Content Management Systems)

Gathers, evaluates, and where appropriate, acts upon training participant feedback to enhance/improve current and future training offerings

Creates and maintains the master set of Learning Objectives for an Allscripts application and/or associate training curriculum

Creates and maintains a master training curriculum for the assigned product

Analyzes client feedback and defines/s improvements.

Creates course agendas (lesson plans), outlines, and writes course narratives for all forms of delivery: classroom, Web Classes, and self-paced eLearning

Conducts and participates in design and content reviews with Education Services and cross-functional team members

Contributes to the development of the Altera Education Services Processes and Standards for the instructional design and development.

Coaches and mentors Instructional Designers on Education Services Instructional Design and Development standards

Establishes design and development timeframes for projects, and has a thorough understanding of the Product Lifecycle Management process; represents Education Services on PMO Program Teams as needed

Provides senior-level skills in at least one design discipline: writing for training, creating effective assessments, defining, and designing Needs and Task Analysis, or applying adult learning in technology-based training

Prioritizes multiple tasks and multiple projects according to specified deadlines

Leads the development for custom client projects.

Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

BA or BS degree preferred and/or other relevant combination of training and experience.

Experience:

4-6 years instructional or curriculum design experience for both Virtual Instructor Led and Web-based eLearning preferred

Advanced level experience in learning technology tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, etc.

Proven ability to analyze and synthesize complex content

Excellent work ethic and strong intellectual curiosity

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve/escalate issues

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)

Basic understanding of US healthcare market and Altera customer base

Strong written, oral and presentation skills for audience appropriate delivery

Ability to effectively write for both eLearning and instructor led medium

Strong time management skills to work competing priorities and high-volume requests

Track record of providing consistently excellent customer service

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Able to rapidly learn new software to support learning development and delivery projects

Able to work effectively under the stressful conditions in a fast-paced environment

Able to effectively handle multiple tasks

Ability to lead and analyze front end analysis and formative evaluations

Understands reusable learning object concepts and designs curricula to maximize content reuse.

Analyzes summative evaluation data and identify continuous improvement actions.

Travel Requirements:

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
