API Engineer II

The API Engineer II is responsible for development and maintenance of highly scalable, high-performance databases and APIs on cloud infrastructure. Works with members of the engineering and data teams to maintain and expand architecture and data integration between various user and business systems.

Essential Duties:

Design, code, debug, and maintain databases and code required for migrations, seeds, and APIs

Maintain, monitor, and enhance performance of databases and API integrations

Implement scalable architecture and APIs for data integration between multiple internal and external systems

Write unit tests to improve and optimize code

Work with frontend and DevOps Developers to deliver well-architected software solutions

Perform code reviews and provide actionable feedback

Meet regularly with the engineer team to provide updates or assist team members with development

Work collaboratively with business and data teams to architect and implement scalable and extensible database systems and RESTful APIs

Monitor and maintain data integrity and security

Troubleshoot and fix bugs in architecture and code

Write and update technical documents

Perform other job duties as assigned by management

Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related field, Engineering Certification, or equivalent combination of education and work experience, required

Minimum of five years' experience working with PostgreSQL databases

Minimum of three years' experience using PHP or Python to develop and maintain data models and APIs

Proven experience working with Google Cloud Datastore or Cloud Bigtable and BigQuery

Experience using foreign key constraints and backend filtering and validation to maintain integrity of data

Strong working knowledge of database keys, views, and indexes, and partitioning

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Effective problem-solving skills and time management skills

Preferred Skills / Experience:

Prior experience working with Google Cloud Platform

Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and hybrid SQL/NoSQL solutions

Experience using Airflow and FiveTran and Laravel
