Financial Analyst

Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting the internal and external reporting requirements for Creditor and Direct Marketing Insurance.

What you will do:

Ensure the accuracy, consistency and quality of all information contained in the Internal Earnings for the Creditor and Direct Marketing block of business.

Prepare various financial statements/analysis/reports for policyholders, reinsurers, government agencies and other Canada Life departments.

Prepare expense allocation, annual premiums and earnings budget. Liaison with Senior Management and Pricing Department.

Responsible for financial tracking, data analysis, accounts reconciliation, reserve determination and investment income calculation.

Provide recommendations on efficiencies, standards and improvements related to financial processes and/or systems.

Develop efficient and effective processes and procedures as necessary to improve/enhance financial reporting, and to ensure the accuracy of the data produced.

Responsible for monitoring and documenting all procedures related to various functions in the department.

Handle special assignments and ad hoc request for information from other departments and policyholders.

What you will bring:

University graduate with concentration in Business/Accounting.

3 to 5 years of experience working in a financial area.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Advanced ability to effectively use Microsoft Office programs especially MS Access, MS Excel.

Demonstrated technical aptitude and proficiency with numbers.

Well organized and detail oriented with high level of accuracy.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as the ability to work in a team environment.

Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Strong customer service and relationship building skills.

Ability to handle multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines, flexible when working with changing deliverables on competing priorities.
