The Licensed Clinical Social Worker is responsible for projecting and integrating the Mission and Core Values of the organization within and outside the Mental Health Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the Director of Mental Health.

Conducts a psychosocial assessment on all new clients; conducts additional follow-up assessments as required by regulation or deemed necessary by the healthcare team.

Provides crisis intervention counseling.

Provides short-term therapy as needed for individuals, groups, couples and/or families. Length of therapy will be determined in conjunction with the Director of Mental Health.

Assists the patient in prioritizing needs and coordinating referrals.

Advises, counsels and, when appropriate, assists the patient's support system in problem identification, analysis, suggestions for interventions and follow up plans.

Develops and tracks mental health treatment plans in conjunction with the Director of Mental Health.

Reports suspicions of child and/or adult abuse to the appropriate authorities according to statutes in collaboration with the Director of Mental Health, the patient's medical provider and AHF's General Counsel

Refers clients to the appropriate program or resource, and when required, assists clients in the enrollment process to access benefits.

Education and/or Experience: Master's degree (MSW)Licensure as Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California preferred

Other Qualifications:

Three years or more of inpatient mental health care experience desired.

Two years of clinical work, preferably with emphasis on chronically ill mental health patients desired.

Must be able to travel locally to HCCs.

Bilingual PREFERRED

Strong organizational and record keeping skills.

Refined mental health interview techniques.

Knowledge of HIV/AIDS related issues and concerns as they relate to the diverse populations. (Preferred).

Familiarity with general medical and psychiatric disorders seen in HIV infected persons, HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND), crisis intervention techniques and social/family systems.

An annual stipend for continuing education units (CEUs) and licensure renewal
