Electrical Engineer

Overview

Our client is seeking an E;ectrical Engineer to design electronic systems and sub-assemblies for fundamentally new products, product line extensions and modifications of current products primarily in the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

Conduct research and define electronic systems of new products or changes to existing products in collaboration with Product Management and multi-disciplinary project teams.

Create design specifications and validation test procedures.

Design, implement and verify electronic subassemblies and full systems, which typically consist of microcontrollers, power supplies, chargers, rechargeable batteries (SLA, LiFe) and analog circuitry among other electronics.

Lead technical design reviews of new product designs.

Work effectively with remote and international engineering design teams to accomplish design objectives.

Lead or perform validation testing of prototype and final electronic products identifying strengths, weaknesses and failures.

Coordinate and provide technical oversight to obtain Regulatory Approvals.

Support transfer of design to manufacturing and production of beta units.

Create work breakdown structures, effort estimates, COGS and budget estimates. Identify and manage technical risks.

Guides work of others who perform essentially the same work. May organize, set priorities, schedule and review work, but has no responsibility to hire, terminate, review performance, or make pay decisions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited academic institution in Electrical Engineering field or equivalent.

5 to 8 years related experience in electronic design and support.

Familiar with advanced Electrical Engineering concepts, practices, and procedures and significant experience in application of this knowledge to the design of products.

Experience in embedded controllers, firmware, electromechanical systems, PCBA design and layout, test desired.

General familiarity with Safety and EMC Standards and agency approval testing.

Experience with stage-gate product development process preferred.

Able to troubleshoot complex Electronic problems in live customer environment.

Capable of directing and reviewing the technical activities of other engineers or technicians. Capable of managing significant projects with regard to performance, schedule, and cost goals.

Expert in the use of standard and specialized tools associated with Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratics equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distributions, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from g. Problems are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation. Problems are solved using knowledge and skills, general precedent and practice groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater sedentary it is considered light work. May at times lift up to 50 lbs.

Capable of handling complex design assignments without technical oversight.

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.…) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to work effectively & cooperatively in a team environment.
