Overview:

We’re seeking an experienced Field Safety Specialist to join our Health and Safety team. This position reports into the Regional Health and Safety Manager, USA.

Here's what you will do as a Field Safety Specialist:

• Support the Director and Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment on occupational health and safety, injury prevention, audits, and wellness programs, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, corporate policies and procedures, to reduce related risks and achieve zero accidents/injuries.

• Assist with completing Worker’s Compensation Return to Work Programs

• Support the use and administration of the corporate SMS.

• Assist with the implementation and development of Health and Safety Policies, Safe Work Procedures, Job Hazard Analysis, Safe Operating Procedures, Incident Investigations, and Training Programs

• Support end users in the field in relation to occupational health and safety requirements, make suggestions for improvements, and reduce injury.

• Assist Site Operations by auditing and reviewing operations within the workplace to develop recommendations to eliminate or control the risks to health, safety, and the environment.

• Additional work-related requests as necessary

Do you have the Spark? Here’s what we are looking for:

• Post-Secondary Education preferably majoring in Occupational Health and Safety with a minimum of 5 years related experience

• Experience working in a construction, field service, or engineering is required. Experience in electrical or utility sectors is an asset.

• Ability to work 12 hour shifts which could include evening shifts given projects, business need and customer requirements is required.

• At least 2 years' experience in a Safety position

• Renewables (wind and solar) sector is considered an asset, but not required

• Knowledge of all applicable Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations and the demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the legislation

• Strong administrative skills with an ability to produce and maintain reports, documents, and present data to all levels of staff is essential.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills are critical

• Proven ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture is essential

• A proactive, collaborative and “boots on the ground” approach to safety

• Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with various employee groups, functional leaders, customers, vendors, and contractors

• Highly organized with an ability to effectively prioritize and make critical decisions with sound judgement

• Experience leading and/or contributing to continuous improvement projects and being a change management champion is an asset

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is mandatory

• On-Site project based 100%

• Highly proficient with various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with DoneSafe or other safety management software is an asset.

• Fall Protection and EWP Train the Trainer considered an asset

• CHST Designation

• Any of the following designation s or certifications is an asset: SMS, STS, STSC, CIT, OHST, ASP
