Children’s Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.

Overview

The Developmental and Behavioral Health Division at Children’s Mercy cares for children and teens who need extra support with developmental, psychiatric, or psychological concerns. We understand that a child’s mental, emotional and behavioral health is an integral part of their well-being. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse II will be a member of the personalized care team, working alongside developmental pediatricians, psychologists, and other specialists. The primary functions of this role will be to provide medical evaluation and follow-up care for children with autism and to provide medication management of youth with ADHD.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses II (APRN-II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. An APRN II obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes/performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APRN-II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and/or research activities, and organizational development.
