
Forklift Operator
Position: Forklift Operator
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Department: Warehouse
Salary Range: Starting $16.50/hr.; experience to be considered for higher wage
Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with weekends and OT during the busy season.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: (This position is temporary to regular full-time, after a 90 fay review.) Operators move inventory to and from warehouse departments while maintaining production standards. This includes proper battery changes as needed as well as daily pre and post inspections on the forklifts. Additional duties include completion of paperwork, audits, adjustments to product on conveyor, providing training to Apprentice Forklift Operator/Receiver, operation of handjacks and powered walkies, as well as shrinking and banding equipment as required.
LIFTING: Operators must use proper lifting techniques and be able to lift weights of up to 60 pounds (approximately .5% of work shift). Assistance is required for weights over 50 pounds.
PUSH/PULL: Operators must be able to push material of various sizes and weights (approximately 10% of work shift). Operators must be able to push/pull a handjack weighing 100 pounds to position palletized materials for distribution.
STAND: Operators must be able to stand while performing receiving functions (approximately 35% of work shift).
SIT: Operators must be able to sit while operating a forklift (approximately 90% of work shift).
WALK: Operators must be able to walk back and forth in their designated areas while carrying out their job function.
REACHING: Operators must be able to reach to heights of 6 feet to position and retrieve boxes to be shipped (approximately 50% of work shift).
ROTATION: Operators will be expected to perform other functions within the department.
BENDING: Operators must use proper lifting techniques to bend when picking up and/or moving materials (approximately 10% of work shift).
VOLUME: Operators must be able to withstand physical strain on neck, shoulders and back while working at a steady pace insure the smooth flow of material for the entirety of the shift.
COMPREHENSION: Operators must be able to read and write English.
MATH: Operators must possess basic math skills.
GRIPPING/GRASPING: Operators must be able to grip and grasp a handjack to be able to guide palletized materials to designated areas (approximately 10% of work shift).
