As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer in Waterloo.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this individual will support our Custom Scanning Camera (CSC) business with the design of new products and the development of product assembly processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
Establish the mechanical architecture for product developments.
Drive all mechanical aspects of product development.
Follow a rigorous design control process.
Design for performance, manufacturing, assembly, and reliability.
Develop and subsequently validate product designs and make sure that they are complete and thorough.
Make sure that the product functions properly on the system level on manufacturing floor and at customer sites.
Develop assembly tools and processes for complex electronic/optical products requiring precise alignment and tight control of flatness.
Qualifications
A degree in Mechanical or Systems Engineering with a minimum of five years relevant experience.
The ability to communicate and disseminate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to the design and development team and to managers.
The demonstration of excellent grasp of language in both written and verbal presentation.
The ability to facilitate swift decision makings to advance developments.
The ability to identify and overcome unclear direction or unanswered questions critical to make progress.
The ability to render complicated development issues to actionable closure and to resolve design conflicts with peers comfortably and expediently.
The ability to build good relationships with others to ensure long-term success.
The ability to translate technology choices into product cost and performance implications, including a broad understanding of component fabrication techniques.
A strong experience in solid modeling.
Experience in the following areas will be considered assets:
Mechanical design for electronics and optical products.
Manufacturing equipment and processes for ultra-clean environments.
AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
