Transportation Specialist, XLOC

The AMXL Operations Center (XLOC) is looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Transportation Specialist with a strong record of achieving results, eager to contribute, plan & execute in order to optimize performance and ensure a great customer experience. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in a huge growth area for Amazon. Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) obsesses over customers by offering a white glove service where we deliver TVs and other large items like furniture in customer homes. Not only do we deliver large parcels, we unpack, assemble, install and sometimes even do tests, hauling away old items as needed. We are currently in the process of building out a network that is poised for big growth in the coming years. The transportation network encompasses all of the operations required to deliver worldwide shipments to and from our fulfillment centers and third party partners through a network of transportation service providers. An ideal candidate has a background in transportation and excellent data dive deep skills. This role will require exceptional communication and interpersonal skills while having the ability to work independently in a high pressure environment and exercise sound judgment. The successful candidate will be proficient at identifying / solving or escalating logistics challenges and possess a bias to get things done and deliver results while functioning as part of a team. Key job responsibilitiesExecute daily operations in the form of route monitoring, carrier & vendor outreach, and problem solving for a rapidly growing network.Support continuous improvement of daily operations. Your feedback will be critical for as we grow this team and expand our AMXL operations into many more US cities.Must be able to systematically escalate problems to the relevant stakeholders and teams and follow through on the resolutions to ensure they are delivered.Excellent communication, both verbal and written as you will be required to convey updates on issues, operational status and business drivers during shift changes as needed throughout the activity cycle and during daily/weekly reviewsContinual, tactical communication with external customers (Vendors, Carriers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Delivery Stations, Sort Centers)Identify and eliminate root causes of route inefficiencies, capacity constraints, and route cancellations.Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed and ensuring service requirements are met.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSHigh school or equivalent diploma1+ years logistics or related experienceMS Office experience, including experience with intermediate level in Excel (v-lookup, pivot tables, etc.)Experience leading process improvement initiatives across teamsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transportation, or Technical related field from an accredited university3+ years of work experience in logistics/transportation industryBasic knowledge of SQL and willingness to learn moreExperience writing VBA and using macros in Microsoft ExcelDemonstrated experience pulling and analyzing data to aid in root cause identification and drive process improvement initiatives across the networkAbility to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to problem solve independentlyAmazon does not sponsor for immigration, including for H-1B, TN, and other non-immigrant visas, for this role.
