Director of Field Operations

Overview

Job Summary: The Director of Field Operations will be responsible for managing Stratus’ employees in the field. These employees include Field Managers, Superintendents, and Carpenters. This includes training, assigning resources to projects and programs, resource scheduling, labor hours reporting, safety compliance, and ensuring all field employees conform to Stratus’ policies and procedures. Stratus’ Field managers will report directly to the Vice President.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership to Stratus’ Field Managers. The Field Managers are Stratus’ eyes and ears in the field and are our best QA/QC resource. They ensure the right resources are in place and that we execute projects on time, on budget, and with high amounts of quality and customer service.

Maintain Stratus’ Field Schedule by assigning Superintendents and Carpenters to programs and ensure we have the right resources in the right places for execution.

Accurate reporting of field hours to accounting and ensuring that our labor absorption levels are kept as high as possible.

Manage the schedule to ensure employees are working an agreed amount of weeks in the field while executing projects.

Develop training programs and classes for Superintendents and carpenters on job related tasks as well as Stratus’ policies, procedures, and systems.

Assist in development, maintenance, and enforcement of Stratus’ safety program and OSHA certification program.

Manage ramp up and ramp down of resources for programs. This entails working with HR to recruit and hire field resources for spikes in business.

Provide counseling to underperforming field personnel to get them in conformance with Stratus’ performance expectations.

Manage terminations of field resources based on performance of job duties.

Partner with PM teams to efficiently provide execution resources in the field for all programs.

Qualifications

3-5 years of project management experience

7+ years of Construction PM experience

Willing to travel nationally (auto & flight) up to 50%, overnights

Exceptional social/interpersonal and leadership skills

Must be a self starter, motivated employee and able to work without supervision

Problem solving ability, resource identification and efficient management of resources

Excellent communication, organization, planning and execution skills
