Director of Finance

The Director of Finance will play a meaningful role in supporting the financial strategy and operations of Paradigm. This hands-on leadership role will report to the Head of Strategy and Operations, managing multiple 3rd party finance partners and potentially growing a team as the company grows. This role will lead the following areas: company budgeting, financial planning and forecasting, accounts receivables, accounts payables, and expense management. Not only will our Director of Finance lead all aspects of current accounting systems, they’ll also drive the discovery and implementation of new tools as we continue to grow and expand as a business.

Defining Your Success:

As the Director of Finance at Paradigm you will accomplish the following within your first year:

Strategic Planning & Financial Management

You operationalized the company’s strategy into financial plans and processes.

You owned key items such as: drafting the annual operating budget, running financial models and analysis, crafting monthly/quarterly forecast reports, identifying, tracking, and reporting on financial KPIs, reporting on target versus actuals on a monthly basis.

You drove accountability throughout the organization through regular reports to revenue leaders in the business, and aligning with annual OKRs and targets.

You managed the annual 409A reporting process and worked with our equity counsel to manage the capitalization table.

You managed the financial systems (e.g. QBO, Expensify,, etc.) and made improvements to them, recommending and implementing new systems as needed.

You implemented a new financial accounting system and worked closely with other teams to integrate it with other core systems.

You managed a 3rd party vendor to run our accounts receivable & accounts payable processes to include: client invoicing processes, client payment and PO portals, reporting, AR escalations/chasing, AP payments and invoice coding.

You owned and managed our internal expense management process to include: ensuring expenses are coded and submitted accurately, managing Expensify (Paradigm’s expense software), and training & communicating to employees on expense report submittal processes.

You secured resources such as additional contractors or grew your team such as making a Finance hire to support the growth of the business.

Leadership & Collaboration

You understand the ins and outs of the business and how each team contributes to the company’s overall vision and mission.

You used financial data coupled with knowledge of the business to provide insights and recommendations to our financial strategy.

You established strong, cross-functional relationships with revenue leaders to improve financial rigor, provide decision support, and bring controls while being agile and adaptive to the needs of a fast-growing company.

You partnered closely with the Product, Services, and Business Operations teams on customer payment flows ensuring that the right information is being captured, at the right time, and for the right amounts.

About You:

You have 7+ years of experience managing finance & accounting operations in a high-growth company.

At least 2 of these years have been in a leadership role/title.

You have at least 1 year of experience working in a blended environment of both SaaS/products and professional services

You have at least 1 year of experience working in an early-stage startup and/or a smaller organization.

You have in-depth experience working in revenue recognition reports for both SaaS/product subscriptions and professional services revenue streams.

You have direct experience updating manual processes into automated/scalable processes.

You’re an innovator who can take what you know about existing financial processes and systems and use that knowledge to bring a finance function to the next level.

You’re experienced in identifying and selecting new financial systems and leading those implementations, and you are skilled at coming up with inventive and sustainable solutions.

You’re an expert in Quickbooks and NetSuite (or similar software).

You’re passionate about building internal relationships across the organization while building strong external relationships with vendors and clients.

You thrive in fast paced, iterative environments such as early-stage startups or high-growth organizations.
