Pathology Imaging Scientist (Image Analysis)
Overview:
This position is responsible for the development of analysis methodology, software tools, and algorithms for molecular imaging applications which may include, but are not limited to image registration, image segmentation, machine learning, data analysis, and general optimization techniques. The ideal candidate will apply these skills with a focus on ex-vivo analysis within histology, microscopy and autoradiography.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
Demonstrates theoretical knowledge and keeps current with emerging trends in digital pathology and image analysis for the department of Advanced Pathology Services (APS).
Develop new algorithms for qualitative and quantitative image analysis tools in the field of quantitative digital pathology using VisioPharm software. The algorithms include but not limited to area-based quantification (positive area quantification and IHC-based H-score), cell-based analysis (nuclei segmentation, nuclei/cytoplasm/membrane quantification on positive staining), ISH/FISH/Quanticell analysis (dot count, intensity) multiplex IF analysis (cell phenotyping through target colocalization, target expression intensity), across a whole slide tissue section.
Familiarity with developing AI/ML algorithms to improve the speed of tissue and cell segmentation steps.
Provide innovative methods to expand computational pathology capabilities for supporting external and internal studies.
Develop image analysis visualizations tools like plots, heatmaps, graphs that convey complex image analysis findings.
Supports developing our cloud-based imaging network.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Independently manages own workload
Receives high level instructions on all work, determines methods on new assignments, works closely with manager, may manage junior staff
Work closely with study directors and study managers at APS as well as image analysis team to complete the image analysis needs of the sponsor projects
Conducts scientific presentations to internal audiences
Qualifications:
An informatics background and familiarity with VisioPharm or any other pathology image analysis software is desirable.
Previous experience with H&E, IHC, or IF biomarker tissue slide is highly desirable.
Computational background specifically computational biology or medical imaging with knowledge in digital pathology is highly desirable.
Experience coding in python, MATLAB, or R or showing the ability to learn new programming languages is desirable.
PhD degree with 0-3 years, or MS with 6+ years’ experience, or BS with 8+ years’ experience.
Prefer someone that had spent time solving biological problems using tissue image analysis software.
Candidates with previous knowledge and experience in high-plex IF will be highly favored.
