General Ledger Accountant (3 month contract)

Overview

Our general ledger accountant will provide a wide variety of accounting services to the business and be responsible for the postings in the general ledger of various entities worldwide. They will work in a team of general ledger accountants each supporting different regions of the global business. The general ledger accountant will report to the Financial Controller.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Ensure an accurate and timely month end close by preparing various journal entries and account reconciliations for several companies.

Enter journal entries (accruals, prepayments, customer rebates, deferred costs, depreciation, and other adjustments) and ensure proper general ledger coding

Maintain balance sheet schedules by reconciling these accounts with the general ledger on a regular basis and analysing any variances

Support Business Unit Heads with monthly reviews of costs, reporting any fluctuations and variances against budget

Liaise with external bookkeepers to provide various information such as AP, AR, and other tax information required for tax return filings

Review P&L accounts to identify items that should be capitalised or prepaid

Monthly reconciliation of inventory

Collaborate with internal departments to obtain transaction information, research reconciling items, and resolve issues

Assist the Global Accounting team with year-end audit requests and statutory reporting

Improve existing financial controls and assist in standardising them globally

Ensure proper accounting policies and principles are followed in accordance with IFRS

Any other ad hoc tasks as required

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

Part-qualified accountant (preferable)

At least 3 years’ experience in general ledger accounting, or similar, preferably within a multinational organisation

Detail-oriented and able to effectively complete tasks with minimal supervision

Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Ability to work remotely with teams across the globe

Team player and ability to motivate other team members

Superb time-management and organisational skills

Illustrate the ability to meet deadlines

Proficiency in accounting and business management software, such as Navision / Microsoft Dynamics, and with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables
