Finance Support Specialist

PlayOn! Sports is the nation's leading high school media and technology company, providing streaming and digital ticketing services to thousands of high schools nationwide. In 2013, PlayOn! Sports and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) created the NFHS Network, a joint venture that aggregates the sports media and related rights of state high school athletic associations while celebrating the accomplishments of student-athletes, student broadcasters, and high schools across the country. Through the NFHS Network, PlayOn! Sports provides automated production capabilities free of charge to schools which allows them to live-stream via artificial intelligence and automation thus avoiding the need for production personnel.

In 2022, PlayOn! Sports and GoFan (backed by KKR a leading global investment firm), the leading digital ticketing company in the high school sports market, joined forces to create a streamlined customer experience for in-person, live-stream, and on-demand events.  There are 19,500 high schools in the NFHS ecosystem and PlayOn! Sports current works with over 50% of them.  Going forward, the company is focused on: 1) continuing to grow the number of schools it works with; 2) continuing to grow the average revenue per school; 3) expanding the products and services it provides to the high school ecosystem beyond streaming; 4) expanding outside of high school sports.

THE ROLE

PlayOn! Sports is looking for a Finance Support Specialist to provide a high level of support to customers including schools and fans using PlayOn! Sports for digital ticketing. This position must work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and be able to work under pressure at times handling a wide variety of activities. A successful finance support specialist utilizes advanced troubleshooting techniques to address customer concerns ranging from basic questions to critical/time-sensitive issues.

The Finance Support Specialist is driven to instill confidence in our customers, build their trust in PlayOn! Sports as a valued partner and have a significant impact on our customer's experience with our product through effective engagement. This position must maintain current technical skills, excellent client service, and a polite, professional demeanor.

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include:

• Maintain high customer satisfaction with a primary focus on providing the best customer support to both schools and their fans 

• Prioritize relationship with schools, listen to their needs and custom-tailor responses to questions 

• Interact with customers via email and phone to proficiently and consistently handle any requests and troubleshoot financial issues  

• Consistently respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner based on established department SLAs  

• Quickly identify when financial issues are more complex and gather appropriate information to triage to a senior member of the support team 

• Analyze and report product malfunctions, appropriately escalating issues to a senior member of the finance team.  

• Ability to perform simple financial account reconciliations at customer requests.  

• General understanding of banking functions. 

 

THE PERSON

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, sales, communication or equivalent experience 

• 1-2 years of experience in a customer support role 

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Quickbooks 

• Extremely motivated individual who is passionate about finance and helping customers achieve success 

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills 

• Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently 

• High-level performer who excels in both a team and individual environment 

• Excellent troubleshooting skills, including research on software application errors and issue re-creation 

• Ability to clearly communicate customer needs to technical support staff and communicate case details to customers and/or management 

• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, paying close attention to detail
